CBA Alliance

In May 2008, CBA and 3 other Chinese-American professional organizations in the US, including the Chinese-American Biopharmaceutical Society (CABS), headquartered in San Francisco, CA; the Sino-American Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SABPA), headquartered in San Diego, CA; and the Chinese-American Biomedical Association (CABA), headquartered in Boston, MA; jointly formed an Alliance of Chinese-American Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Associations (ALL-CABPA).

On May 29, the then-current presidents (2007-2008) of CBA, CABS, SABPA, and CABA signed a declaration and formally announced the formation of ALL-CABPA in front of attendees of the 13th CBA annual conference and 10th Shanghai International Bio-Forum at Shanghai International Convention Center. The following is the declaration.

DECLARATION OF FORMATION OF
THE ALLIANCE OF CHINESE-AMERICAN BIOTECHNOLOGY AND PHARMCEUTICAL ASSOCATIONS

We, the Chinese American organizations in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical field: namely, the Chinese Biopharmaceutical Association (CBA), headquartered in Washington DC; the Chinese-American Biopharmaceutical Society (CABS), headquartered in San Francisco, CA; the Sino-American Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SABPA), headquartered in San Diego, CA; and the Chinese-American Biomedical Association (CABA), headquartered in Boston, MA; declare to jointly form the Alliance of Chinese-American Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Associations (ALL-CABPA).

After many years in operation in our own regions, we recognize the need to unite our resources and expertise to better serve our fellow members and our community, and to achieve the missions shared among us: to promote the science and technology of healthcare; to exchange information and knowledge; to foster career development and entrepreneurship; to facilitate social networking among our members; and to strengthen business collaborations among different countries and regions, especially between the United States and China, as well as countries in the Pacific Rim. We strive to be the organization that represents the interest and promotes the recognition of Chinese Americans in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arena in the United States.

The primary role of the alliance is to organize and coordinate national and international activities participated by its member associations. It also serves as the center to facilitate communications among members of individual associations. The alliance is the united front of all member associations and represents its member associations in due course.

The alliance shall be governed by elected presidents of its member associations and make decisions by consensus. The federation also organizes its activities by joint Task Forces consisting of leaders from its member associations. All member associations otherwise continue to operate independently in their own regions and are responsible, legally and financially, for their own regional activities.

The alliance shall have an open structure. It welcomes other associations in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical field to join should they share the common missions of other member associations and agree to abide the bylaws of The Alliance of Chinese-American Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Associations.

United, we shall stand!      Click to see declaration with all party signatures
